Homemade Yeast Bread Recipe

Ingredients

– 1 cup warm water – 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast – 2 tbsp sugar – 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour – 1 tsp salt – 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

In a large bowl, mix warm water and sugar. Add yeast and let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy. This activates the yeast to help the dough rise.

Stir in flour and salt until dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth. Add a bit more flour if the dough is too sticky.

Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased pan. Let it rise again for 30 minutes while preheating oven to 375°F (190°C).
