– 6 cups sliced apples (Granny Smith or your choice) – 3/4 cup granulated sugar – 1/4 cup brown sugar – 2 tbsp all-purpose flour – 1 tsp cinnamon – 1/4 tsp nutmeg – 1/4 tsp salt – 1 tbsp lemon juice – 2 tbsp butter – 1 package pie crust (top and bottom)
Preheat oven to 425°F. Toss sliced apples with lemon juice, sugars, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well coated.
Roll out bottom crust into pie pan. Pour apple mixture inside. Dot with small butter pieces over apples evenly for richness.
Cover with top crust, seal edges, and cut vents to release steam. Brush crust lightly with milk or egg wash for a golden finish.
Bake at 425°F for 15 minutes, then lower heat to 350°F. Bake for 35-40 minutes more until crust is golden and filling is bubbly.
Cool on a wire rack before slicing. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream for a classic, perfect apple pie experience.
