About the American Eagle Silver Uncirculated Coin
This coin is the collector’s edition of the official United States Mint American Eagle Silver Bullion Coin. Since its debut in 1986, the American Eagle coin was refreshed in 2021 with a new design on the front (obverse) and a completely revamped back (reverse) to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the American Eagle Coin Program.
Design Details
The front side of the American Eagle Silver Uncirculated Coin shows Adolph A. Weinman’s iconic image of Liberty walking confidently, wrapped in the U.S. flag, with her right hand reaching forward and her left holding laurel and oak branches. Advanced technology was used to bring back some of Weinman’s original features, including his artist mark. The coin also includes the inscriptions “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the year “2025.”
To enhance security, the coin features a special reed pattern variation, which helps protect against counterfeiting. The Mint studied anti-counterfeiting methods used by leading mints worldwide to develop this feature.
Reverse Design
The reverse side was designed by Emily Damstra from the U.S. Mint’s Artistic Infusion Program and sculpted by Medallic Artist Michael Gaudioso. It depicts an eagle coming in to land while carrying an oak branch, symbolizing the bird preparing its nest. The inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “1 OZ. FINE SILVER,” and “ONE DOLLAR.”
